You are NOT alone

After a long engagement, our daughter and her European fiance finally got married!  They were married in an intimate wedding in our backyard! Three days later, we got on a plane and flew to another marriage celebration in the South of France! It was a whirlwind trip for my family and I! Not even sure where to begin?

Most of us flew on an average of 8 flights, 2 trains and between all of us, we were in France, Italy, Switzerland, England the Netherlands, Spain and Poland.

Getting all 5 kids and 3 of their partners over there and coordinating our travels, and still liking each other after being together was a major miracle!

One of the many, many lesson learned in Europe was that God hears our prayers. I said many over the last month.  Some of them were request for:
-sunshine on the days of the wedding ceremonies
-help me remember to pack everything we need for 3 weeks in a carry-on suitcase
-what to do when a flight is canceled with 6 of us missing our connecting flight in Paris, how are we going to get Venice

These were just a few of my many concerns in my prayers to the Higher Power who I was needing assistance with.

Yea, O God, and thou wast merciful unto me when I did cry unto thee in my field; when I did cry unto thee in my prayer, and thou didst hear me.
And again, O God, when I did turn to my house thou didst hear me in my prayer.
And when I did turn unto my closet, O Lord, and prayed unto thee, thou didst hear me.
Yea, thou art merciful unto thy children when they cry unto thee, to be heard of thee and not of men, and thou wilt hear them.

He heard my cries! We were able to get out of our predicaments! On so many occasions literally, we felt the angels who were sent to help us!

  • When have you felt Him answer your prayers?
  • What’s important about knowing He is there and knows our thoughts and needs?
  • What would you like answers to?

He is always there!

The Power of the Subconscious Mind

Back in the 1990s I listened to a fantastic motivational talk that really resonated with me. This was long before computers and before Ted talks.

It was about the power of our thoughts, and how our conscious mind work with our sub conscious thoughts. The conscious mind is constantly creating an image or picture of who we are. Then our subconscious supports that picture.

Our mind is like a giant computers. When we have a thought, it’s like typing something into the subject line in Google. After you push the Enter button, the computer goes into the archives and searches for all the things that support the subject.

So if you’re thinking, “I’m never going to be able to do this…”, memories of ALL those times when you weren’t able to accomplish something will be brought to support that initial thought.

The speaker shared a story about Bear Bryant, the famous football coach. His whole life was football. A month after he retired, he was dead. In his mind, there wasn’t much purpose left for his life without football. How much was his conscious mind supporting his picture of life?

If your subconscious mind can pull out all the evidence to support the negative thoughts, imagine making a positive thought like, “I’m brilliant.” Our minds go and retrieve all those amazing incidents from our life’s files to support that positive thought.

The Good Book once said these wise words, “As a man thinketh, so is he” and “Surely as I have thought, so shall it come to pass.”

-What are the pictures you have of yourself?

-What affirmations can you write about how you want to be?

Never underestimate the power of your thoughts!
