Discovering and Unleashing Creativity for Parkinson’s
We are creating a space for adults with PD to explore creativity and self-expression through using a variety of mediums, focusing more on the creative process rather than on the finished product.
Program Goals
– learn about the artist Claude Monet who despite gradually losing his vision created some of his most memorable art
– create art with acrylic paints and chalk pastels in a relaxing, enjoyable and non-judgmental environment
– improve motion by focusing on artistic expression rather than on the physical movement itself.
– feed the imagination, improve social connection, self-esteem, quality of life, enhance cognitive abilities and memory, encourage creative thinking, relieve stress, benefiting both the brain and mental health
– dispell the myth that one must be born with talent to be good at art by focusing on the creative process.
